Uconnect up for Tech of the Year Award!

The new technology that Chrysler is placing in all of its upcoming models is really getting people excited. So much so that AOL Autos Technology of the Year Award has placed the Uconnect system as one of the 6 finalist.

The Uconnect has numerous features that have made it so popular with drivers. The ability to look at a monthly health report for your car is one. Another is being able to have your voice translated into text. It can even adjust the music you’re listening to so that you can hear the driving directions being relayed to you from the GPS or if someone is calling you on the phone in order to hear better.

The competition this wonderful new tech is going up against includes Audi, Cadillac, and Ford. Honda’s “LaneWatch” and Nissan’s tire pressure monitor and refiller are also wanting to take the win away from Chrysler.

Chrysler recognizes this as a big chance for the company to show just how important the new tech is. They are urging fans of Uconnect to go and vote for them.  The winner will be announced on January 9th at the Consumer Electronics Show.

Mopar Extends the SEMA Show

Mopar fans know that the SEMA show is when to expect the very best of the company. There’s this sense of it being an early Christmas. The parts maker understands this. SEMA has been notorious for them in the same way the store front is for most retail stores. What is changing this year, however, is the approach Mopar is taking once the curtain falls on the auto event.

SEMA comes but once a year, and when that is over, Mopar packs everything up and heads home. That’s no longer the case, as Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar brand explains, “Every year, we put these dream vehicles on the SEMA show floor for a full week, and then pack up our toys and take them home. This year we weren’t ready for the fun to stop.”

What they did this year was take their trucks for a detour. Instead of taking the concept cars back home, Mopar stopped at L.A. To give car journalists a better look at what stole the SEMA show. Everything from the Jeep Sand Trooper to the Dodge Charger Juiced. It’s not something those who cover the industry are used to, but it did give them an unprecedented at Mopar’s fantastic new special vehicles.

Jeep Sand Trooper Ready for SEMA

The SEMA show is going to be one of the hottest auto events of the year. Mopar has been steadily releasing more and more information about the new rides they will be presenting to the world in Las Vegas. One of the best named vehicles that Mopar is giving the special treatment to is the Jeep Sand Trooper.

The moment you take a peek at the Jeep Sand Trooper, it’s clear where this beast belongs. The full dusty yellow body would look at home on any desert across the world. The exterior hosts a series of black accents that include the front and rear off-road bumpers, grille, fuel-filler door, and black door-sill guards. Combining it with other Mopar options, such as a Warn winch and LED off-road lights, give the impression that this is a Jeep meant to be out in the thick of the roughest environments.

In order to make sure that the Sand Trooper can tackle the places it’ll surely be taken to, Mopar has taken the necessary steps to ensure that it holds up. First off, the engine that the Jeep has under the hood is a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8. It also comes with 42-inch Super Swamper Bogger tires.

Mopar “Top Eliminator” Contest Begins Final Voting

Mopar has always been proud of its fans. A company doesn’t get to celebrate a 75-year anniversary unless it has an incredible amount of support. Giving back to the people who helped the company survive the years is what the Mopar “Top Eliminator” program is all about. Mopar had asked their fans to put the pictures and details of their amazing rides online to see who had the best car. The call was answered far and wide and in order to determine the best of the best, Mopar again is asking the fans to give some aide. It’s time for them to vote on the winner.

Starting today and staying open until October 21st, you can go online to vote on Mopar’s “Top Eliminator.” About 80 people came forward with their vehicles to compete in a contest that looked to have Mopar enthusiasts from all around the county show off their talent in modifying their car. The officials at Mopar have selected 10 lucky people for the finalists.

The candidates were selected and judged based on criteria that included Mopar content, overall appearance, and other things such as the story detailing the building of the vehicle were all taken into consideration. The winner of the contest will be getting themselves the exclusive Mopar “Top Eliminator” trophy. Go online to the Mopar “Top Eliminator” online competition on their Facebook page to cast your vote.

Mopar Shares More Details on SEMA Show Vehicles

We took a look at the concepts last week that Mopar is bringing to the SEMA show in Las Vegas. Even more information has been coming out of what to expect from the auto part maker when the event goes live.

Mopar is celebrating their 75th anniversary and want to send the message that this is still only the beginning. The show does seem to be, for the company, to be proving something. Whether or not that is their intention, they are definitely bringing their A-game.

The most exciting car that will be debuting is the Viper SRT. Outfitted in a bright yellow exterior, the Mopar Viper SRT also comes equipped with a carbon-fiver cross beam which makes it lighter by 50 percent than the factory version. To complete the package, there’s also the “Track Pack” wheels that are in hyperblack and LED driving lights.

Also getting some primetime at the show will be their Dodge Charger Juiced. Named after the orange color it is sporting, the Charger will come equipped with plenty of Mopar parts to ensure top quality. The engine is a Viper V-10 which allows for 650 horsepower and comes with a Mopar intake and exhaust.

Next on the roster is the Chrysler 300 Luxury. Mopar has covered the car with a True Blue Pearl Coat along with a platinum mesh grille. Driver comfort is ensured by having Katzkin leather on the seats and even the shift handle. There’s even a bright pedal kit along with Chrysler-logo door sills to really make the driver feel like they are in the lap of luxury.

Finishing off the list is the Jeep Wrangler Sand Trooper. Sadly, it’s not Star Wars themed, but that doesn’t stop it from seeming space-aged in its technology. With a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine, portal axles on the front and back that give the Wrangler an extra 5 inches of lift, and 42-inch Super Swamper Bogger tires, it could definitely compete in a pod-race.

The SEMA show is building up to be an impressive display of just what Mopar is capable of. Perfect victory dance for a company in the 75th year of their life.

Mopar Preps for SEMA Show

The end of the month brings some good treats to car-lovers. The SEMA show begins in Las Vegas on October 30th. Running through November 2nd, the show will be the place where Mopar plans to give a show of more than 20 specialized models. Everything from Jeep to Dodge and even Fiat will be getting that extra Mopar touch to look and performance.

Nitrobahn has more details on the unveilings that are being planed by the parts company. No official pictures as of yet, so far the only information given so far are teaser renders of five cars. The cars that will be displayed on full come the SEMA show are the Fiat 500, the Dodge Dart, the 2013 Ram 1500, and the Dodge Charger.

Also planned for the show is a golden Jeep Wrangler that was designed by Devan Ninov. This Mopar designed Jeep will have wide fenders, a Warn winch, and a push-bar in front.

The Dodge Dart looks to be the most exciting of the bunch. The body teased to be a white exterior along with what possibly looks like a functional hood scoop, a carbon fiber front splitter, and a tow hook. There’s a hint that this may just be the SRT version of the Dart due to a red chin spoiler under the bumper.

Mopar is the word that comes to car buyers mind when they think about giving their car a little flair. It’s the most notorious name out there for car enthusiast and it’s the go-to place to get some extra power put under the hood. The name appears on more than 500,000 parts and accessories and they are distributed to more than 120 different countries, from Brazil to China. Building the car of your dreams from scratch or just needing a small part, Mopar is where you turn to. Now, Mopar wants to see what you’ve been doing with all their gear.

They want to see what the customers have been up to. They want you to share the story of your handiwork. The “Top Eliminator” program is set to find the biggest Mopar enthusiast and their modified vehicle. If you haven’t been lucky enough to attend any of the three live events, don’t worry, you can now go online to Facebook to enter.

Head over to the Mopar Facebook page and click on the “Top Eliminator” tab. Every person who enters will need to tell the story of their vehicle and don’t leave out the details on just what work went into the creation. Be sure to make note of where Mopar came into the tale. Get your submission in by October 8th when the judges will be grading them to find the top ten. After that process is completed, Fans will be given the chance from October 15-21st to vote. On the 22nd, a champion will be crowned.

Viper SRT Has Dealers Excited

The Dodge Viper is one of those cars everyone would like to put on a pedestal to show off. It’s quite the looker, one that really makes the head try to turn all the way around to follow as it speeds down the streets. Dealers want nothing more than to have one front and center for all to see to entice them in through the doors. There’s a problem with that, unfortunately, as not a lot of dealerships will be getting their hands on the super car. Of 2,300 US dealers, only 100 to 150 should expect to see the hot sports car come into the lot.

An article on the Detroit Free Press illustrates the mindset of dealership owners about the news that the Viper is finally coming. “It’s the image. I want to be able to say I have Viper,” says Chuck Eddy, owner of Bob and Chuck Eddy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Ohio. It’s the way many feel about it, even with the knowledge that the pricey sports car isn’t going to sold in large quantities.

Dealers are starting to receive letters from Chrysler this week to let them know just how to get the Viper at their dealership. The first requirement “Is first of all, to have the fire, the passion. That’s the unofficial requirement – that you have a love affair with the cars and you just love fast cars, “ said Ralph Giles, CEO of the SRT brand.

To get a Viper, the dealer must pay for two agreements, totaling $25,000. The first agreement is for a special certification for the SRT line up. For doing this, the dealer will also get SRT signs, logos, and service training for SRT models. It also gives them a full day at the track with professional drivers for three members of the dealership’s staff. That’s what $5,000 gets the dealer, the other $20,000 is for training, service tools, and track time.

The Viper SRT will have a small amount made with only about 2,000 per year. Allocations of the vehicle will be determined mostly by the demographics of the area to see how much demand there is for exotic cars. Chrysler also wants to make sure that when someone comes to buy a Viper, that the person they talk to really knows what they are talking about.
